Advocate Malesela Daniel Teffo has been struck off the roll because of his conduct. The matter was brought to court by the Legal Practice Council, following his behaviour at the Senzo Meyiwa trial. Teffo formerly represented the four accused in Meyiwa's murder trial. Before he was removed, Teffo claimed that President Cyril Ramaphosa had been interfering in the matter and accused the presiding Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela of witchcraft.

IN HIS ABSENCE
Teffo's fate was determined in his absence at the Pretoria High Court. The court ruled in favour of the application brought forward by the Legal Practice Council (LPC) on Friday. Teffo was previously called out for his behaviour. Complaints against him included assaulting an officer, as well as using an attorney's signature without authorisation.
Yesterday Teffo budged into the Meyiwa trial demanding to speak to Judge Maumela and was escorted out by SAPS members and court security. Teffo claimed he wanted to address the second docket.

CAT AND MOUSE GAME
Last week Zimoja reported Teffo's future was hanging in the balance following court papers showing that the LPC wanted him out. He had argued that the council was unfair towards him and went as far as labelling it a kangaroo court. According to the court papers filed at the High Court of South Africa, under the Gauteng Division in Pretoria, between The Legal Council and Teffo back in August, Teffo had complained that the council was being unfair towards him and they wanted remove him unaware. "On the 4th and 5th of August 2022, Adv Malesela attended a so called Legal Practice Hearing resembling the kangaroo court proceedings taking place in Pretoria allegedly under auspices of the South African Legal Practice Council. It is therefore important to make these submissions and they must be taken into consideration prior to the issuing or delivery of the judgment. Then two presiding officers in the kangaroo court ashamedly seen on television overcame by emotions whereby they stood up and left the court room while i was busy making submissions for their consideration," the papers read. Zimoja tried last week to give Teffo a right of reply to answer to the allegations against him and how the LPC wanted to struck him off the roll but he played hide and seek and asked Zimoja to call him at a later stage to no avail.
