It has been three weeks since the death of rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and his fiend Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane who were gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. The two were laid to rest on 18 February in Johannesburg. AKA's family has released his much-anticipated album Mass Country on 24 February 2022.
NADIA BATTLING TO COPE
AKA's girlfriend, Nadia Nakai is grieving and still in disbelief about the passing of the Company rapper. "This pain is just too much to bare," Nadia says. "Everyone says it's something I will learn to live with. I just don't believe it. Every day it just gets worse. I don't know how to deal with this. Saying it hurts doesn't explain the level of this pain," she adds. The More Drugs rapper says AKA's death left a void in her heart. "This hole in my heart will never be filled. People go through heartache and are held together through their grief by their partners. How do I deal with the grief of losing my partner? the person that was supposed to support me is who I've lost. God, I miss you, Kiernan."
A GRIEVING MOTHER
AKA's body says her son may have died but he will forever live in their hearts. "Kiernan's body has left us but let's remember, with grateful hearts that his spirit can never be taken away," she says. "Your unwavering support contributed to Kiernan's drive, excellence, and relentless hard work.
He was a perfectionist who made no allowance for anything mediocre. He inspired excellence in himself but your support kept him going for almost two decades, propelling him into superstardom." She goes on to say, "No words can describe how much you meant to him and for that you have my everlasting love and gratitude. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN THE CASE
South African Police Service minister Bheki Cele says there has been "significant" progress in the investigation into the murder of rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and Tibz. "The investigation is going on. They [police in the province] are following some directions. There is progress in the case. It seems to be significant [progress]," he said. Sometimes it is OK to be thorough before you act in these cases because it is no use to rush and you find your case does not see the light of the day when it goes to court." He said during a media briefing.
