Mampintsha said to have left Babes Wodumo drowning in debt

Babes Wodumo allegedly neck-deep in debt after Mampintsha's death

It has been exactly two months since Gqom artist Mandla "Mampintsha" Maphumulo died. The Ngeke singer passed away after suffering a second stroke while being treated in the hospital. A week after his passing Mampintsha's mom Zamanguni Gumede also died following a short illness.

 

PARENTS MOVING IN 

 The musician has left his wife Bongekile "Babes' Wodumo nothing with his son popularly known as Sponge. According to a close friend of the widow, Babes Wodumo's family moved into her house immediately after Mampintsha's funeral. "They left their home in eLamont and moved in with her and Sponge. She needed the support from her parents to be able to deal with Mandla's death,' the friend says. "But to also be able to cut costs on bills. Phela, she is the one supporting her parents and the breadwinner at home. It made financial sense for them to move in with her. The house is big enough.'

 

FALLEN TO HARD TIMES

 The close friend, says Babes has fallen on hard times since Mampintsha's passing. "He has left her in a lot of debt. Luckily, they own the house, but the debt has accumulated,' he says. Another friend tells ZiMoja that, Babes is not sure about what Mmapintsha was doing with their finances. "He was managing all the finances of the business and household.,' she says. "These people met when Babes was very young, he has always been guiding her and taking care of the money. But she now has to manage everything on her own. She is in serious debt.' According to the friend, Babes is left to manage Mampintsha's businesses such as West Ink Entertainment, Original Shandis clothing, gin, and vodka. "There was a time when they almost lost the house, but it was paid off. But she will recover because shooting Life After Mampintsha, season of their reality show with Showmax. But for now, things are rough and she is taking as many bookings as possible.' Speaking to ZiMoja, Babes' sister Nondumiso Simelane laughed off the broke allegations. "EWho doesn't have debt bandla. Babes will be fine. She will share her story when she is ready,' Nondumiso says. She confirmed that they were indeed shooting with Showmax. "But details will be out soon.' Not long ago, in their reality show Uthando Lodumo, Babes revealed that her bookings from 2016 were going into Mampintsha's personal account and she was unable to track her funds. On season two, episode nine, she told Reverend Dube that Mmapintsha accepted payments for her royalties, which she has not seen. "The company showed me proof of payment. I don't know what he did with the money,' Babes shared.
