Lady Du finally releases music after a legal battle with former manager

Dudu Ngwenya release her latest project titled Song Is Queen

She believes in investing in the future and putting her money to good use. Whether it is her music or other career ventures. Amapiano singer, DJ, and businesswoman Dudu "Lady Du" Ngwenya is also not investing in her health.

NEW MUSIC

After more than a year of not being able to release music after a fallout with her former manager Thabiso Khati of Thabiso (Pty) Ltd who allegedly stole money from her, Lady Du has now invested in herself and independently released her 20-track project titled Song Is Queen. "Not being able to release music was hard, but I and so glad to have parted ways with my former manager,' she tells ZiMoja. Thabiso had allegedly been charging promoters double and sometimes three triple and four times the agreed amount with Lady Du and pocketing the funds. "But I have to move on from that. I found out and confronted him and he denied it, of course. But I moved on and I am focusing on my music, and my businesses.' Her first single titled Wishy Wishy features Ok Malum Kool Kat and DJ Riley.

HEALTH IS WEALTH

Lady Du is also investing in her health. After a long time of not being able to workout or exercise due to a breathing condition, which she has spoken openly about, she was eventually given the go-ahead by medical practitioners to start working out again and she is doing so with a personal trainer helping her to shed off the weight. "I've gained about two dress sizes up. I am happy I can start working out again,' she says. "It's tricky when you're a woman in the entertainment space, you always need to invest in yourself, image is important...always looking and feeling good.

WEIGHT GAIN AND MENTAL HEALTH

At 33 years old, she understands that losing weight is not easy. "It really messed with my self-esteem,' she says. "I was taking some meds which made me gain weight a lot. I had to change them because they were also making me emotional, and I was always crying. So, on one hand, I was fighting weight gain, and on the other emotions.' Lady Du says the entertainment industry can be very cruel about body weight and image. "I have definitely been body shamed. Some people think that I am pregnant. No. I'm not pregnant, I just gained weight. I am very conscious of it. In the beginning, I used to wear baggy clothes to cover the weight gain, but now that I have started working out, my confidence has improved,' she says. "I am getting there. I don't want to be thin, but I want to feel good when I'm on stage and not feel like I have to hide my body.' Not long ago, Lady Du opened up about her mental health and beating depression. "Every day differs, but staying positive, avoiding triggers and taking care of my health, and making great music helps to keep the balance."
