She's making headlines yet again. This time for having high standards and being a no-nonsense professional. Pregnant songstress Kelly Khumalo (38) left the stage where she was headlining the Jazz Mu Toropo Festival in Francistown, Botswana on 17th December due to bad sound.

KELLY DOWNS TOOLS?

The singer vacated the stadium where only security guards and a few fans had turned up to watch her and other artists from Botswana. According to an insider, the problem started when she went to the stage earlier for a soundcheck and was dissatisfied. She informed the hosts that their sound system was not up to scratch, including the backline. After spending more than an hour with her band trying to make the sound to be better, Kelly told the organizers she won't be performing anymore since it was substandard.

THREATS AND CURSES?

Kelly's manager, Nthabiseng tells ZiMoja that she did her best on the day of the show to perform to make the performance work. "Things didn't fall into place, and we had no alternative, but to warn the organizers that we were not performing anymore," says Nthabiseng. According to the insider, Kelly had been paid in full. "Her deposit was paid in October, and after that, the organizers asked Kelly to do a promotional video where she would commit to performing in Francistown,' the source says. "She duly did the video and it was posted online as a guarantee for the sake of Botswana music that Kelly was indeed performing on December 17.' However, the organizers are alleged to have hired a substandard sound system. The source adds that the turnout was disappointing as organisers did not invest enough money on promoting the show in local and mainstream media. Daniel Diamond who is part of the organizing teams at BanaBana Bantongwa (BBB) is allegedly not happy about Kelly walking off stage. Nthabiseng adds that one of the organisers has been hurling insults at her and has sent some threatening voice notes. "She was swearing at me and threatened to sue Kelly for non-performance. We will await their summons because Kelly did all she could by promoting the event. It is not part of our problem that they hired a sub-standard sound system.'
