Today is supposed to be the annual All White Veuve Clicquot Picnic atMenlyn Maine Lawnes in Pretoria but speculation and rumours make the rounds on social media about him being shot dead in the early hours of the morning, while on his way DJ at an event. Many assume it is a prank, but the family of nightclub owner and DJ Sumbody confirm his death to Zimoja.  

HIS FAMILY CONFIRMS HIS PASSING

 The family of businessman and DJ Oupa John Sefoka affectionately known among his fans as DJ Sumbody confirm that the Monate Mpolaye singer indeed passed on in the early hours of Sunday 20 November 2022. Family spokesperson, Mmanake Mokiti has informed Zimoja that the rumours are true. "It is not a prank or asocial media joke. This is true,"she says. "DJ Sumbody has passed on." Mmanake went on to share a statement released by DJ Sumbody's family and his record label Sumsounds. Without going into detail about the nature of his death, he family states that he was met with an unfortunate incident in the early hours of the morning. "Details of his untimely death cannot be released but the artist named Oupa John Sefoka allegedly ran into an unfortunate incident that led to his passing in the early hours of Sunday 20 November 2022" the statement reads. "Details surrounding his passing cannot be disclosed as investigations are still ongoing." Speculation is rife that it was a drive by shooting but the  Sefoka family and Sumsounds Music Management have requested privacy during this time. DJ Sumbody's business partners at Ayepyep nightclub have since cancelled the all-white picnic, following his death, just hours before the event.
"It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we notify of the cancellation of the DJ Sumbody All White Veuve Cliquot Picnic. The cancellation follows the news of the sudden passing of DJ Sumbody in the early hours of Sunday morning.The picnic was scheduled for Sunday, 20 November," the statement reads.

WHO IS DJ SUMBODY

Born in Pretorio, DJ Sumbody acquired his business acumen before becoming a renowned DJ. He has worked with several Mzansi stars, including DJ Tira, Busiswa, Londie London, Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Zakes Bantwini, andHolly Rey. He is known for his popular hits Ayepyep and Monate Mpolaye.  He is the co-owner of Ayepyep Lifestyle, a black-owned,nightclub, and restaurant franchise.
