"I am sorry, I should have handled things differently" - Bujy Bikwa on assaulting Boity Thulo

Bujy says he regret attacking Boity in 2021

Over a year after he allegedly assaulted Boity Thulo, disgraced former Metro FM DJ and TV presenter Bujy Bikwa says he is ready to apologise. Bujy speaks about his much-publicised alcohol attack on media personality and rapper Boity. The incident, which happened in 2021, saw Bujy being condemned by friends and fellow media personalities and isolated over the attack. ?

THE ATTACK?

He allegedly attacked Boity with an alcohol bottle at the Courtyard Hotel, opposite the Mall of Africa in Midrand. The bottle cut Boity's face and she was rushed to hospital in an ambulance for medical treatment. After receiving treatment at the local hospital, Boity opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm against Bujy. This attack on Boity took place after an argument between the two media personalities. "Nobody wants to be associated with me anymore."

HE WANTS TO APOLOGISE

Bujy told ZiMoja that he just wants to sit down with Boity and apologise. He says he has nothing against Boity, and if he could have things his way, he would turn things around for the better. He says that he has in the past tried to speak to Boity during one of their court appearances to smoke a peace pipe, but she did not entertain him. Bujy says if he can be offered a chance to speak to Boity and iron things out, and go back to that night, a lot can be resolved. "With the restraining order she has against me, I can't reach out to her. Most people who know the two of us and can play the role of peacemakers, do not want to intervene. They would rather stay away instead of helping me out," said a disappointed Bujy. "The incident has really affected me badly, I am currently on depression treatment, and undergoing counselling,' he said. ?

REGRETTING THAT NIGHT

Bujy says he will always regret that fateful night. "I have suffered tremendously. financially, emotionally, and personally I am drained, "he says. ZiMoja was made aware that Bujy has been looking for radio gigs, but no one wants to hire him. He says things have been hard on him, but he is not going to play the victim. "It's radio season and I can't even get a job because of the dark cloud hanging over me. But at the same time, I don't want this phase to dim my talent,' he added. Attempts to get a comment from Boity drew a blank as her phone was on voicemail.
