Comedian Toll Ass Mo uses his experience to fight the injustices

Toll Ass MO vows to fight for those who have been falsely accused of crime

Comedian Mongezi "Toll Ass Mo' Mahlangu  has started an organisation where he will be helping people who face false accusations that could see them spend time behind bars . This follows his acquittal last year August after model and actress Lerato Moloi laid charges of rape and sexual assault against him. Lerato accused Mo of raping her in 2018 when they were working on a television production in Paarl, Western Cape. The court found Lerato to be a 'dishonest and unreliable' witness.

HELPING THE INNOCENT

Mo faced up to 35 years behind bars if he was found guilty. With the help of a private investigator Mike Bolhuis, he was able to prove his innocence, despite a backslash he received from fellow celebs who said they believed Moloi's story. Mo has now teamed up with Bolhuis to help victims who find themselves in similar situations.  Speaking through their publicist Palesa Moditambi,  Mo and Bolhuis are on a mission to prove the innocence of other people facing similar charges - some already sentenced and those still awaiting trial.

Palesa told ZiMoja that the organisation is primarily aimed at helping people who are falsely accused and do not have financial aid to fight the accusations. She added that the two work hand in hand with their clients on a daily basis gathering evidence and going through evidence that has already been submitted.

POSITIVE RESPONSE

Palesa adds the response has been overwhelming and positive and many people are grateful to be granted second chance to prove their innocence."Ever since it was launched many men have been writing into the organisation with their queries, sharing their stories and submitting evidence' Plesa said. She added that Mo has also been travelling around the country and going to different organisations doing talks helping people get justice. "He and his partner have been working closely with the police to make sure that justice takes its course and the right process has been followed,' she said.

FIGHTING TO CLEAR HIS NAME

ZiMoja has also learnt that Mo might be suing Lerato for defamation, slander and reputation damage after he was cancelled and lost gigs but his publicist wouldn't comment on the matter. "We'd love to talk further on the organisation, we just can't speak on the case any further due to recent developments.' Palesa said.  The comedian is said to be ready to do what he loves the most; making people laugh. According to a source close to him, Mo has been  getting bookings. "Things are looking good for him and he is at the right place with all the support he needs' says the source.
