Cassper beefs up security after DJ Sumbody's death

Cassper Nyovest is not fazed by the criticism

Big guns, bodyguards with bullet proof vests is what one can expect when seeing rapper Refiloe "Cassper Nyopvest' Phoolo in public. He no longer travels without protection and walks freely since the death of his close friend Oupa "DJ Sumbody' Sefoka.

DJ SUMBODY'S TRIEGGERING DEATH

?DJ Sumbody died in a hail of bullets on the evening of his All-White Picnic on 20 December. The DJ and his driver were shot several times and one was seriously injured in the early hours of Sunday. After his death, the SAPS have appealed to the public to assist them in searching for suspects. In a statement by Provincial Commissioner of the police in Gauteng, the SAPS say they received a complaint about a shooting incident at the corner of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive at at approximately 00:30. "Upon arrival at the scene, police found two people inside a VW Golf with gunshot wounds. Both victims, a driver, and a passenger were certified dead on the scene. It was reported that the third victim, who was driving a BMW X5, was taken to the nearest medical care centre after sustaining gunshot wounds. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.'

FULLY ARMNED?

Cassper's eyes water when he thinks about that fateful night, andhe is still disbelief that his friend died the way he did. "Someone was so insensitive and sent me pictures of Sumbody's body in the car after he was gunned down. I only saw parts of the picture and closed it once I realised what it was. I couldn't bear to see him in that light.' The Iyamemeza singer's death has made him beef up his security. "It's not safe man. I have ignorant for a very long time and DJ Sumbody's death woke me and made me realise that we are not safe. His death really f%&ked me up,' he says. Cassper drives a Bentley, lives in a mansion and always wearing expensive brand. "I am always walking around with expensive jewellery I can't afford to put my life at risk and tempt people,' he says. "I also need to remember who I am; I am Cassper Nyovest. I am not just some normal guy who can just walk around freely. I would love to live like that, walk round the streets and not be recognised, but I am not that guy. Someone made me realise that this is not the way to go, and Sumbody's death made me aware that, I need to be safe and remember who I am. We spend a lot of money on stupid things, so why not invest in  security and knowing that wherever I move, I am a bit safer and everything is controlled.' Cassper says when he travels to other countries he is always protected. "It comes as part of the booking. Even before I blew up, when I travel to other countries they come with mad bodyguards and safety. They even stand outside your hotel room, it's the norm and I will be doing the same here at home. People are hungry.' He misses his friend and Monate Mpolaye hitmaker. "He was the one guy you could call at any time of the day and night and he would be able to help.
