Babes Wodumo pulls a no show after being paid

Babes Wodumo has been accused of being a no show after being booked to perform at gigs

Babes Wodumo doesn't seem to stay out of controversy. The Gqom musician did not pitch for three shows she was booked and paid in full for in the last two weekends.

NO SHOW

Real name Bongekile Simelane from Lamontville in Durban, KwaZulu Natal (KZN), the Wololo hitmaker was scheduled to perform at Estradini pub in Estcourt and  Second Half Bar and Restaurant in Nquthu on Saturday alongside Afrotainment artist Beast. She was also a no show at the Ora Lifestyle in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday 21 January.  ZiMoja is in possession of the proof of payments which showed money was deposited into Wodumo Entertainment company accounts.

DISAPPOINTED

The disappointed Estradini Lifestyle management released a statement explaining to their patrons who wanted answers as to why Babes Wodumo failed to make it to the venue as per promise from the establishment. In a statement posted on their social media page for their patrons, Estradini Lifestyle expressed  thei rdisappointment over no show from Babes Wodumo. "As we all know that we held an event on Saturday, 28 of January and unfortunately only one artist showed up for the event instead of the two artists shown on the poster. We as Estradini Lifestyle apologise sincerely as it was a situation, we had no control over. Babes Wodumo did not show up for the event and when we tried contacting her, she was unreachable on the phone," the statement reads.

PAID INFULL

The statement confirmed that the pub paid Babes R18 000 booking fee. "We kept our end of the bargain and paid her; we have attached proof of payment below. We apologise for the inconvenience. We kindly ask everyone who attended yesterday's event to keep their tickets for our next event," the statement reads. Babes Wodumo also failed to make it to Second Half Bar and Restaurant where she was also scheduled to perform. The owners of the establishment say they were forced to issue a statement apologising to their patrons after Babes pulled a no show.

UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR

The management said that Babes's manager and road manager did not answer their calls.  "We would like to assure you that it will never happen again. We are indeed disappointed by the unacceptable behaviour of this artist. We advise that you kee0 your tickets for use in the next event," reads the statements. It is now becoming a habit for Babes Wodumo not to pitch in events she is scheduled to perform at. A week ago, she also failed to perform at the Ora Lifestyle. Thami Vilakazi from Ora Lifestyle said: "It is very risky to book Babes Wodumo these days because she doesn't show up and her management does not communicate with us event organisers. They are only taking money and then going awol. I'm  done booking her," he said Efforts toget a comment from Babes and her manager Nondumiso Simelane proved fruitless.
