The beef between the Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema and Ngizwe Mchunu is far from over. Addressing the media at a press conference in Kwa Maimai in Joburg CBD earlier today, the self-proclaimed Amabhinca Nation president says his beef with Malema started when he did not accept his invitation to join the red berets. Once again, Mchunu dared Malema to come to KwaZulu Natal to host the party's election manifesto at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 10 February.
The former Ukhozi FM deejay was responding to the remarks made by Malema calling him a small boy who is hustling to make ends meet. Last month, Mchunu posted a social media video where he was accused of making tribalist comments against Malema and Limpopo people. He said Malema and the EFF will not come to KZN as he was the border gate in the province. "I heard you are coming to KwaZulu-Natal, I'm in charge here. I'm the border gate. Launch your party manifesto in Limpopo where your ancestor would hear you clearly. Go to Seshego, not here. The people from here, hear from us, and you will find them from us. I you want them you must explain to us why you need them first," Mchunu said in the video. He added that Malema should rather invite amaShangane, a derogatory term for Tsonga people, as no Zulu person would attend his event at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Mchunu went on to label Malema the devil leader and a dictator. "We can't be led by someone who wants to be treated like God. He is a young boy and today I want him to know that "Ziyakhala Ke Manje" (it's on). I can't be told by the young man on what to say to my people as I am the leader of Amabhinca Nation," he said. Mchunu retaliated his remarks clarifying them that they are directed to Julius Malema personally and explained what led to their fallout with the red berets commander. "Julius Malema called me into their offices where we had a private meeting. In that meeting, Julius lobbied me to join the EFF and in return he promised me the premiership candidate position in KwaZulu Natal. He told me that the current EFF Secretary Mongezi Thwala was toothless and will not bring him numbers in KZN as he is eyeing it. I told him that I couldn't accept his proposal upfront as I had to consult with Amabhinca Nation. That infuriated him because I asked him to host Amabhinca in Seshego but he refused," Mchunu said.
Mchunu once again said he was not a tribalist and that his remarks were not directed to Limpopo people. "I will say this again, my remarks were not meant for the Limpopo people. They were directed at Julius Malema. I was angered by Julius Malema who wanted to use me to get more votes in KZN. I will never be used by a dictator, I am against dictatorship and I will never allow anyone to use me and my people for their personal gains," he said. Mchunu lost a car sponsorship with JAC Motors following complaints by the EFF over what they called 'tribalist' comments. Mchunu has since apologised fo his comments.
